We are currently seeking a Data Communication Engineer for our client in the Telecom/Wireless domain. Role Description:
The Data Communication Engineer would need to have at least 5+ years of experience. The VoIP/IPT Engineer/Architects role is to coordinate strategies for defining, deploying, and maintaining the company’s in-house IP telephony and voice-over-IP communication architecture and its associated network connections and component hardware. This includes managing engineering projects for VoIP/IPT initiatives and configuring and optimizing all IPT/IP-PBX telephone systems and services, both internally and those integrated with Internet-based services.


- Design and support VoIP/IPT infrastructure and its associated software, including IP-PBXs, call management systems, voice mail, and interactive voice response. 

- Where necessary, plan for management or phasing out of legacy telephony systems and other switch-based technologies. 

- Select, deploy, and utilize appropriate tools for reporting and routing of IP telephony traffic on the network.

- Collaborate with systems engineers/architects for upgrades to operating systems, hardware, etc. 

- Must be current on new transport protocols, products, and standards in support of VoIP/IPT systems development and equipment procurement.

- Integrate IP telephony systems with enterprise LANs, WANs, wireless LANs, and other Internet-based services and protocols. 

- Collaborate with help desk to resolve trouble tickets and mitigate end-user issues with hardware and/or applications. 

- Assist with the planning and maintenance of network cabling, including MDF and IDF closets. 

- Perform telephony audits as necessary. 

- Monitor and identify capacity and performance issues for VoIP/IPT traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telephony systems. 

- Collaborate with network engineers or administrators to ensure that VoIP/IPT traffic does not interfere with or hinder network data traffic. 

- Conduct testing and development disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions, and backup systems.

Required Qualifications:

- Knowledge of the configuration and optimization of Cisco VoIP/IPT equipment. 

- Strong hands-on knowledge of SIP, H.323, TCP/IP, and [] protocols. 

- Strong understanding VoIP/IPT QoS issues and mitigation strategies. 

- Working technical knowledge of the Cisco operating systems. 

- Direct experience with Cisco switches and routers.

- Knowledge of cabling and wiring systems, design, and installation. 

- Ability to operate tools, components, peripherals, and testing accessories.

- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. 

- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and procedure manuals. 

- Strong interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

- Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives. 

- Ability to conduct research into IP telephony issues and products. 

- Strong customer service orientation. 

- Help desk experience.

- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment


- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

- Four or more years of relevant work experience.

- Cisco Certified Network Associate - Collaboration (CCNA) certification, CCNP a plus.

Must Have Skills:

- Experience with Cisco Communication Manager 11.x, Unity Connection, Cisco Emergency Responder, Telepresence, Jabber.

- Experience with contemporary technologies including IP Telephony, SCCP, SIP, H323, MGCP.

- Designed and implemented large scale customer networks.

Desired Skills:

- Project management experience a plus.

Education: Any/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or another related field or Equivalent.
